The Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Growth Management System limits the total amount of additional development allowed in the Region. Additional development is assigned to TRPA, county, or city pools to be allocated to permitted projects.
Commodities that are assigned to projects include allocations that have been constructed and permitted or reserved allocations that are not completed. If reserved development rights are not used by a project, the development rights will be returned to the pool from which the rights were allocated. Unreleased amounts include rights held by TRPA that have not been made available, including remaining residential allocations that are metered out annually and commercial floor area from the 2012 Regional Plan that will only be made available after the remaining commercial floor area from the 1987 Regional Plan is exhausted.
